Letter from the Pastoral Coordinator

Dear Families,

This Sunday, we celebrate the Confirmation of over 80 youth and adults from our four South Seattle parishes. The Sacraments of Confirmation, Baptism, and Eucharist form the Sacraments of Initiation into the Church. “In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ,” (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults p. 203). Our fellow parishioners have chosen to dedicate a year to study and transformation in order to prepares themselves to be fully-initiated, active members of the Church. And how lovely that they will receive the Sacrament on the Feast of Pentecost, when we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles! We are grateful for their witness of faith. Please pray for them, that strengthened by the Holy Spirit, they may be “witnesses of Christ, heralds of the gospel and prophets in the world,” (Doors to the Sacred p. 202).
